Revell B-58 Hustler 1:48 [rev04337 (04337)]

Skill: Intermediate
The Convair B-58 Hustler was the first operational jet bomber capable of Mach 2 supersonic flight. The aircraft was developed for the United States Air Force Strategic Air Command during the late 1950s. Despite its sophisticated technology and Mach 2 performance, its operational flexibility was limited by high costs and changing mission requirements leading to a brief career between 1960 and 1969. Its specialized role would be succeeded by other American supersonic bombers, the FB-111A and the l… [To read on please click the link below or the product image.]

In Germany in the 1930s air combat tactics were devised that led to numerous new developments in dive-bombers. One of these developments was the Henschel Hs 123 built in 1935. However the German Air Ministry was only interesting in acquiring a combat aircraft to support troops on the ground. Series production began in March 1935. The Hs 123 underwent its baptism of fire in the Spanish Civil War. During World War II the Hs 123 was mostly used in Russia and the Balkans. Without any doubt the Mustang was one of the most exceptional and effective combat planes of World War Two. Known in Germany as "Auntie Ju", the Allies called this robust German aircraft "Iron Annie"! The Ju 52/3 was the result of the re-development in 1930 of the single-engine Ju 52. With 3 engines it offered much greater safety. The type was employed by the German Lufthansa over a long period before it was put into service with the Luftwaffe in 1934 as a bomber. The idea for a ground attack support aircraft already existed in World War I when the necessity arose to provide air support for troops on the ground. In 1938 the idea was revisited and executed by Henschel in the form of a small twin-engined aircraft designated the Hs129. After France capitulated in 1940, at a stroke the German aircraft industry had available to it engines such as the Gnome-Rhone 14M, a 14 cylinder radial engine with a take-off power of 700 hp. The Martin B-26 Marauder was a twin-engined medium range bomber, modelled on the German Ju 88 high-speed bomber. It flew for the first time on 25th November 1940. The plane was heavier than planned and could be extremely difficult for the pilots to handle. Due to the high loss rate, Martins were continually being improved.
