Magnifying GlassIt is incredibly easy to search for the products you are looking for in our catalogue. There are essentially three ways to do this.
  1. You can do it manually by browsing through the catalogue structure. You can start the process in two ways: either by clicking on the Products link at the top or by using the pop-up menus on the left of virtually every screen. This method is probably best if you are not quite sure what you are looking for or just want to see what we sell.
  2. You can type in a carefully chosen keyword into the search textbox that appears at the top right corner of every page.
  3. You can click on the Search link that also appears at the top right corner of every page to take you to the advanced search facility. Here you can refine your search using the excellent filtering options available. For this reason it is very well suited to people who know what they are after. The best way to explain it is through an example; if you know the kit is a Spitfire, is in 1:72 scale and is made by Airfix, simply type in the following search string "Spitfire 1:72 Airfix" in the top textbox called "With all the words" and leave only Brand, Name and Scale checked in the checkboxes to the right. Click Search and see what happens. You will be presented with a page that returns only those products that fit the criteria that you specified in those fields. Clearly there are many permutations that you can play around with be changing the options and the search string.
Have fun!

The Model Catalogue Customer Loyalty SchemeCustomers of The Model Catalogue will be pleased to learn that we have been piloting a new customer loyalty programme for a few days and it has run so smoothly we have decided to go live with it ahead of schedule! It is a very simple mechanism and this is a brief post to explain how it works.

Customer loyalty schemes are a well-known and time-tested way by which a retailer can reward its valuable customers for their business and for coming back in future.

This is how it works. For every £1 you spend at The Model Catalogue on modelling products (kits and accessories), 1 reward point is added to your account. Once you have collected a decent number of points these can be redeemed for a gift voucher that can be spent at The Model Catalogue.

The redemption value of a point is 2.5p (£0.025). While this may not sound a lot, it is comparable with the more famous reward schemes out there and also the points can certainly add up over time to the point that there may be a nice surprise for you at the end of the year. Naturally you can either spend it on yourself or gift it to a friend.

So what do you need to do? Well, as far as collecting the points is concerned you need to create an account with us and make sure that you continue to use that same account when placing each order. There is nothing more that you need to do regarding collecting points other than place orders with us. Obviously the more you spend with us the more points are automatically added to your account.

To view or redeem the points you need to log in to your account (click the "My Account" link in the top right corner of the home page). This which will take you to the customer service page where you will see an option called "Redeem Points". Clicking on this link will take you to a page that tells you how many points you have collected. Simply follow the instructions to create a gift certificate. You will receive an email confirming the value of the Gift Certificate and instructions on how to spend it. If you want to gift it simply forward the email to the recipient of your kindness for them to redeem.

Can a customer use only a portion of the gift certificate?
Yes, the portion used is deducted from the remaining amount left on the certificate. The customer
can then use the remaining amount for a purchase at a later time.

What happens if the amount on the gift certificate exceeds the purchase?
The shopping cart will bypass the normal payment processing and mark that payment was made by a specific gift certificate.

What happens if the gift certificate is less than the amount ordered?
The customer will be required to pay the difference between the amount purchased and the value of
the gift certificate using your regular payment method.
